Registered Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy focuses primarily on restoring muscles to optimal length, strength and balance. Whether the cause of the pain is primarily muscular or a secondary reaction to trauma, muscles will react to protect and guard the affected area. By reducing muscle pain, we allow the body to relax and recuperate.
Common techniques used by our registered massage therapists are deep tissue massage, cross-fibre massage, myofascial/trigger point release, muscle attachment release, stretch massage, neuromuscular therapy and craniosacral therapy. These forms of massage therapy can be applied through clothing or over bare skin using oil/lotion.

Physiotherapy
A physiotherapist is a university-trained primary health care professional who treats patients with physical conditions/injuries. Our goal is to restore mobility and functional independence and to promote overall wellness.
Our Physiotherapists focus on manual therapy, a ‘Hands-on Approach’ to treating musculoskeletal conditions.
- Manual Therapy:
- Soft tissue techniques to decrease pain, break down scar tissue, release muscular trigger points, regain muscle length and improve mobility and function.
- Spinal/Joint mobilization is used to restore range of motion in the neck, back and joints.
- IMS/Dry Needling:
- IMS uses acupuncture needles to specifically target injured muscles, which have tightened/contracted due to injury/stress. The needles are inserted into the affected areas, which can be directed into the tight bands of muscles or near the spine where the nerves have become irritated. Generally, the insertion of the needles is relatively painless, however, in a tight band, you may feel the sensation of muscle cramping. The result is to relax the tight bands of muscle, improve local blood flow to the area and normalize nerve function.
- Exercise Therapy:
- A progressive exercise program to regain flexibility, strength and function. It involves retraining muscle stability, core strength and focuses on regaining functional independence concerning activities of daily life. It includes a home program.
- Education:
- Use of Ice vs Heat
- Modified activities and safe postural exercises will help with healing and prevent exacerbation of the injury
- Ergonomics:
- Postural advice concerning sleep, work and recreational activities. This includes the type and number of pillows, mattress, chair, car seat, desk height, computer and lighting.
- Correct ergonomic positions will decrease stress on the injured soft tissues (muscles, ligaments) and joints.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an alternative medicine developed in ancient China. Our bodies are made up of twelve main energy pathways called meridians. Each meridian corresponds to specific organs. The cause of the disease is the blockage of Qi (our vital energy) in one or more of these meridians.
